The Scratch TTM project is a way to experience the potential of typography as an information representation system. Here the information is music (scratch) and the lyrics are musical symbols, that when combined with the principles of our language allow for the creation of a musical score for later reading and interpretation.
The design process was based on the graphic interpretation of the sounds made with the turntable, the mixer and the vinyl, and then assigned to the keyboard in order to write scores that represent the scratch technique (movement of the vinyl with sound cuts) in a very specific way. The typography also considers a Latin character set specially designed to work with musical notation.
