Signage Design for Intercultural Hospitals in rural sectors of the Región de Los Lagos of Chile, built for major local Mapuche-Huilliche communities of high socio-economic vulnerability that inhabit the sector. Both projects are characterized by the participation of communities in the project development process. The signage design seeks the inclusion of this ethnic group and their sense of belonging through the incorporation of patterns and iconography characteristic of their craftsmanship and their own culture. A hospital is differentiated from the other by the color application defined hand-in-hand with representatives of the communities. The Mapuche-Huilliche language is used as the first language in all signs, maintaining and encouraging the transfer of traditional languages to new generations.
