The crafts and design project began in 2013 in the town of J. J. Castelli, Chaco, with the aim of improving the production and marketing conditions of the baskets made by a group of women artisans QOM - original people - and revaluing their ancestral techniques. The palm leaf fabric was used to design a series of handbags and purses and a coloured strap was incorporated as a distinctive element, which allowed it to be differentiated, making it more resistant and reducing production times. Today, the artisans increased their incomes, the young women joined the group and the palm leaf was declared an Asset of Cultural Interest, thus protecting the land. QOM Lashepi Alpi is a real job opportunity for women and makes their work, values and culture visible.
